Winston Team Featured in Litigator of the Week Column

A Winston & Strawn team led by partners Linda Coberly, John Schreiber, and Jeffrey Steinfeld was featured in the Litigator of the Week column by The Am Law Litigation Daily on April 25, 2025.

The recognition stems from the teams work to secure an en banc decision from the Delaware Supreme Court this week that handed a big win to their client, William “Bill” Brown, the former CEO of 3D spatial mapping company Matterport Inc. The court rejected the company’s efforts to vacate a nearly $80 million judgment Brown won after improper trading restrictions were put on stock he received as part of the company’s de-SPAC transaction. The court also granted Brown’s cross-appeal on post-judgment interest, finding that the Court of Chancery erred in using a lower interest rate in effect during the liability phase of the trial, rather than the higher interest rate in effect when damages were awarded—a win that could add $5-10 million to Brown’s total haul, taking it to nearly $100 million.
