A Winston & Strawn team led by Partner and Chair of the Labor & Employment Practice Michael Roche was featured in The Am Law Litigation Daily’s Litigator of the Week column on March 17, 2023.
The recognition stems from the teams success bringing home a defense verdict for safety science company UL LLC in a whistleblower trial in Illinois. After a 12-day trial, jurors in Cook County Circuit Court deliberated only about 30 minutes last week before turning back a retaliatory discharge claim from former UL employee Gene Katz who claimed he was fired after blowing the whistle about alleged bribery and corruption at the company. Jurors also sided with UL on its counterclaim for specific performance of a confidentiality agreement requiring Katz to return all UL confidential information in his possession.
