Thania Charmani

Thania has a broad range of experience representing U.S. and international clients in federal and state courts in complex, high-stakes commercial, securities, and antitrust litigation, as well as habeas corpus and reproductive rights litigation. Thania also has an exceptional understanding of matters relating to blockchain and digital assets and has been representing clients in this space since 2018, including in enforcement actions brought by the SEC, as well as advising companies on regulatory matters in this field.
Thania has significant experience in representing clients in matters relating to blockchain, distributed ledger technologies, shareholder derivatives claims and antitrust class actions. She also has defended numerous clients against federal securities class actions brought under the Securities Act of 1933 and Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as well as enforcement actions brought by the SEC.
Thania also has a very active pro bono practice and has handled various matters including serving as counsel for a nonprofit art center in a commercial litigation in New York State Supreme Court, reproductive rights litigation, death penalty cases, immigration matters, clemency petitions, and civil rights-related Section 1983 claims. She has worked with the Innocence Project, and she has submitted several briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court on constitutional issues, one of which was quoted by the dissent in a 2022 decision.
Thania was recognized by The Legal 500 US in the areas of Dispute Resolution: Securities Litigation: Defense and Finance: Fintech in 2024.

Education
Thania received her law degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2010. Thania received both her LL.M. (2012) and her J.D. (2015) from Cornell Law School, where she was a general editor of the Journal of Law and Public Policy and was the winner of the Langfan and Cuccia Moot Court competitions.
