William G. Fox
Associate
William solves clients' problems in cases spanning many areas of law and at all parts of the litigation process.
Since joining Winston, William has worked with colleagues on a broad array of matters, including appeals, business disputes, patent cases, qui tam cases, civil rights cases, and internal investigations. In all these matters, William has played key roles in drafting appellate briefs and trial-court briefing on dispositive motions and other key motions, including motions for class certification and motions to exclude expert witnesses.
William has also participated in and coordinated all stages of litigation. Aside from drafting and responding to initial pleadings, he has participated in and coordinated document collection, review, and production, and coordinated the drafting of written discovery requests and responses to such requests and briefed and argued numerous discovery motions. William has taken and defended many depositions including those of expert witnesses, fact witnesses, and corporate representatives. Having served on multiple trial teams, William has experience with all parts of the trial process, from pretrial disclosures to post-trial motions. Indeed, William was also selected by the firm to participate in a 12-week secondment at the Dallas District Attorneys’ office, where he argued numerous motions and tried multiple cases as lead counsel, and William has argued a federal case to Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
William’s pretrial, trial, and appellate experience enables him to take a big-picture, strategic view of the litigation process so that he and his colleagues can sort through the details of clients’ cases and resolve those cases efficiently both in and out of the courtroom.
Prior to joining the firm, William served as a law clerk to Associate Justice John Devine of the Supreme Court of Texas and to Judge Jane Boyle of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. During his clerkships, William not only worked through numerous complex legal problems, but also gained valuable knowledge of Texas and federal procedure, effective advocacy in trial and appellate settings, and how judges work through issues at every stage of litigation.
