Winston & Strawn and PETA File Emergency Motion to Stop Waccatee Animal Evacuation
Winston & Strawn and pro bono client PETA filed an emergency motion following new eyewitness reports alleging that Waccatee Zoological Farm is moving animals out of the facility, hindering PETA’s ability to collect evidence concerning the animals’ conditions. The emergency motion, filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina, is “seeking a court order that prohibits further transfers, requires Waccatee to account for the whereabouts and ownership history of the animals, and imposes sanctions against the notorious outfit.”

Industry, Environmental Groups React to Chemical Safety Improvement Act
The Chemical Safety Improvement Act, introduced on May 22 by Senators Lautenberg (D-NJ) and Vitter (R-LA), has been welcomed by both environmental and industry groups as a significant step towards much-needed TSCA reform. Although stakeholders have generally commended bi-partisan efforts towards TSCA reform, some initial critiques have surfaced.
