After a Successful Pilot Summer, DePaul Law’s First Generation in Law Scholars Program Sees Promising Future
September 8, 2022
Earlier this year, Winston & Strawn Partner Stephen D’Amore and his wife, Kim D’Amore, generously pledged a special donation to their alma mater, DePaul Law. With their gift, DePaul launched the First Generation in Law Scholars Program (FGLP), a program aimed at increasing diversity in the legal profession.
“It is the beginning of what Kim and I hope will be a major investment by DePaul alums to build a pipeline of excellent, diverse lawyers who have been shaped, as we were, by their first-generation challenges and opportunities,” Stephen said in a statement.
FGLP is designed for diverse, first-generation students and is described by DePaul as a “holistic experience that will introduce [scholars] to law school, the legal profession, and the practice of law.”
The inaugural FGLP class, made up of 10 rising college freshmen, completed their first summer session this June. As a result of their success, the University of Illinois College of Law has partnered with DePaul to expand FGLP’s network throughout the Chicago legal community.
