Five Things You Can Do Now to Prepare for GDPR
Speaking Engagement
February 21, 2018
The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) takes effect on May 25, 2018. GDPR significantly increases the requirements imposed on companies touching the personal data of EU citizens and increases oversight by the EU member states’ data protection authorities with massive consequences for non-compliance.
Winston & Strawn Partner Peter Crowther and David Moncure, Group Data Privacy Legal Counsel for Shell Oil Company, lead ACC-Houston’s February 28 interactive discussion of the practical steps your business can take now to comply with the GDPR. The presentation:
- Provided an update on the GDPR
- Highlighted key areas of risk associated with the GDPR by walking through a hypothetical day in the life of an in-house counsel faced with GDPR issues
- Considered the impact of Brexit and identified business-focused steps to help manage the risks associated with the GDPR
The discussion ended with a Q&A session where attendees had the opportunity to discuss key issues and practical tips with the panel.
