New York-based Partner James P. Smith III spoke at the 36th Annual Ray Garrett Jr. Corporate and Securities Law Institute in Chicago on April 29, 2016. The event was designed to provide private practitioners and corporate counsel with a timely analysis of current securities and corporate law developments confronting publicly and privately held corporations.
Mr. Smith participated in a session titled “Mock Trial – Valuation Issues Under Delaware Law.” The mock trial was presided over by the Honorable Leo Strine, Jr., Chief Justice, Delaware Supreme Court, and Mr. Smith and Kevin Shannon of Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP argued the case. Patricia Vella of Morris, Nichols, Arsht & Tunnell LLP served as commentator.
Mr. Smith chairs Winston & Strawn’s Securities Litigation Practice. His practice focuses on M&A-related litigation, federal securities fraud class action defense, corporate governance litigation and advice, and the defense of shareholder derivative suits.
