Jeffrey Kessler Named a Finalist for New York Law Journal’s 2019 Attorney of the Year
June 19, 2019
Winston & Strawn’s Co-Executive Chairman Jeffrey Kessler was one of three finalists for the New York Law Journal’s 2019 Attorney of the Year Award.
Attorney of the Year, the journal’s MVP award, goes to the lawyer who had the most profound effect on the law or legal community in the past year or did the most to advance the cause of justice.
Jeffrey led a Winston team in a landmark antitrust suit filed by Division I college basketball and football players against the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and many of its conferences. The case went to trial in September 2018, and a few months later, the court ordered a permanent injunction against the NCAA’s compensation restrictions. Jeffrey has also been leading a Winston team on behalf of the U.S. Women’s National Team in soccer in their class action for equal pay.
The finalists were recognized in the New York Law Journal’s upcoming Professional Excellence Magazine and were honored on October 23 at the New York Legal Awards in New York City.
