Matt focuses his practice on white collar and complex commercial litigation, and represents corporations and individuals in high-stakes matters including government investigations and complex business disputes.
Matt has experience in all facets of litigation, from pretrial through appeal, as well as experience leading internal investigations for corporations. Most recently, Matt served as Deputy Special Prosecutor in Cook County, Illinois in the high-profile matter of People of the State of Illinois v. Jussie Smollett.
He maintains an active pro bono practice, with a particular focus on criminal pro bono matters.
Matt received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Loyola in 2017, where he served as a Student Articles Editor for the Loyola University Chicago Law Journal, and was a member of Alpha Sigma Nu Honors Society. He received his B.A., cum laude, in political science and history from the University of Notre Dame in 2010. Upon graduating, Matt taught at a grammar school on the West Side of Chicago, and continued to teach there while attending Loyola University School of Law’s evening program.
