Charles focuses on employee benefits and executive compensation matters.
Charles is an associate in the firm’s Chicago office and focuses his practice on employee benefits and executive compensation matters. He assists in the employment, labor, compensation, and employee benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions and other transactions. Charles advises on plan design and establishment, operational issues, qualified and nonqualified plan corrections, Code section 409A, 457(f) and 457(b) issues and IRS filings in general. Charles also represents plan sponsors and plan administrators in audits of qualified tax plans by the Internal Revenue Service. Additionally, he has experience advising tax-exempt clients, such as Code section 501(c)(9) organizations (VEBAs), on exemption requirements and unrelated business income tax (UBIT) issues.
Charles was recognized in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America in the area Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law.

Education
Charles received his L.L.M. in taxation from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. He earned his J.D. and B.A. from the University of Michigan. During his time in law school, Charles was an Editor for the Michigan Business and Entrepreneurial Law Review.
