Saranya focuses her trial practice on all aspects of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent litigation. Bolstered by her experience as a software developer, she helps clients defend the cornerstones of their businesses–patents and trademarks.
Saranya’s strong electrical and computer engineering background—she previously served as a lead software engineer at Orbitz Worldwide—aides her representation of clients in high-tech patent litigations in district court and at the ITC, including cases involving telecommunications, networking, and medical devices. She has assisted teams in various aspects of patent litigation, including initial case evaluation, drafting pleadings and motions, handling discovery, preparing noninfringement and invalidity contentions, preparing expert reports, taking and defending fact and expert depositions, arguing key motions, and preparing direct and cross examinations for trial.
In addition of her litigation focus, Saranya has prosecuted dozens of utility patent applications in the electronic and computer arts directed to computer software, Internet-based applications, graphical user interfaces, financial products and services, insurance products and services, and business methods. Saranya also has experience preparing validity, freedom-to-operate, and patentability opinions.

Education
Saranya received her B.S. in electrical & computer engineering from Florida Institute of Technology, magna cum laude, in 2006, and went on to receive her M.S. in electrical & computer engineering from Purdue University in 2008. She received her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, magna cum laude, in 2015 where she was an assistant editor for the Journal of Intellectual Property and was awarded the “Best in Class” Certificate for Strategies in Intellectual Property.
