Stephanie Turner

Stephanie represents clients in a variety of internal investigations, regulatory matters, and complex commercial litigation matters. Stephanie draws upon her prior experience as an advocate for a multitude of causes to solidify her ongoing commitment to pro bono service and better serve her clients.
Stephanie concentrates her practice on white collar criminal defense, internal investigations, compliance reviews, and regulatory enforcement. Stephanie’s clients include individuals and companies in the financial services and health care and life sciences industries.
Prior to joining Winston, Stephanie assisted clients with minor criminal records in getting their charges expunged from their record. She also worked as a student attorney in Duke Law’s Community Enterprise Clinic, where she assisted non-profit organizations with drafting organizational documents and with developing policy to improve the community. Stephanie also volunteered with North Carolina’s Equal Access to Justice Commission and the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy.
At Winston, Stephanie focuses her pro bono efforts on assisting senior residents of North Carolina with drafting and executing simple wills, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
Stephanie was recognized in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch® in America in the areas of Criminal Defense: White-Collar and Litigation - Banking and Finance.
Stephanie is co-chair of the Civic Engagement Committee for the North Carolina Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the Mecklenburg County Bar Association. She is also a member of Winston’s Black Lawyers’ Network. Stephanie was chosen to participate in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 2024 Pathfinders Program.

Education
Stephanie received her J.D. from Duke Law School in 2020, where she was programming director of the Black Law Student Association, a 2L fellow for the Center for Race Law and Politics, an education policy research assistant, and the co-founder of Duke Law’s North Carolina Club. Prior to attending law school, Stephanie was an assistant teacher at a local non-profit after-school program and completed an internship at the Tubman African American Museum—both in Macon, Georgia. Stephanie graduated, magna cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 2016 with a B.A. in political science and a double-minor in women’s studies and African American studies.
